How to add transactions in assets

Step One

Go to Assets/Liabilities and hover your mouse over the "three dots" icon at the end of the Asset row:

Then select 'Transaction List' from the menu that appears:

On the screen appears, select your required Transaction Type from the Dropdown - the options being "Add Investment", "Redeem Investment" and "Distribute Income". Once the required Type is selected, click on Add.

(You can also modify any existing transaction by clicking on it in the list here, once transactions have been saved)

Step Two

Add Investment Transaction:

This Transaction Type is to represent when additional units have been added to an Asset. This type is necessary for some Reports to calculate the Cost Base of an Asset.

Fill in the information for the transaction - only a few fields are required:

  1. Deposit Date: The Date that the Transaction occurred
  2. Units Added: The total number of units added in this transaction
  3. Gross Amount: The total value of the transaction (the amount paid to obtain the additional units)

Other fields like Notes, Description, Total Tax, and Total Fees can be filled in as well. However, these are not mandatory.

Click "Save" to complete the entry.

 

Redeem Investment Transaction:

This Transaction Type is to represent when units have been withdrawn from an Asset. This type is also necessary for the proper functioning of Reports that calculate the Cost Base of an Asset.

Fill in the information for the transaction - only a few fields are required:

  1. Withdrawal Date: The Date that the Transaction occurred
  2. Units Withdrawn: The total number of units withdrawn by this transaction
  3. Gross Amount: The total value of the transaction (the amount gained from sale of these units)

Just as with the Add Investment Transaction type, the other fields like Notes, Description, Total Tax, and Total Fees can be filled in but are not mandatory.

Click "Save" to complete the entry.

 

Distribute Income Transaction:

Under Distribution Details, you can select from three Distribution Types:

  1. Interest Payment
  2. Dividend
  3. Distribution

You can then add specific information about the payments under the section "Tax Details for Distributions". Any value entered is a percentage.

You can also allocate Franking information in this new window:

Once you have finished entering in your information, click on Save. You are able to view this payment by then clicking on Transaction List.
